Abusive Relationships

By: Recovery Man

The abusive relationships are characterized by extreme jealousy, emotional withholding, lack of intimacy, raging, sexual coercion, infidelity, verbal abuse, threats, lies, broken promises, physical violence, power plays and control games. Emotional abuse is as damaging as physical abuse, though it is often harder to recognize, and therefore to recover from. Emotional abuse causes long term self esteem issues and profound emotional repercussions for the partners of abusers.

Abusive relationships get worse over time. Emotional and verbal abuse frequently shifts to more overt threats or physical abuse, particularly in times of stress. Abusers are generally very needy and controlling; the abuse escalates when they feel they may lose their partner, or when the relationship ends.

Abusive patterns are part of the emotional make up of both the parties involved. Without help and outside intervention the abusive patterns will be repeated in all relationships.

Many of the attributes of abusers are documented trauma based adaptations to childhood emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Abusers act out of deep seated shame and feelings of inadequacy. They seek to pull their partner down to make themselves feel better.

Just as addictions pass down through generations, abusers often leave their families for a family of choice - then repeat the abusive cycle from the other side. The abused becomes the abuser and so continues the cycle.

Abusive relationships do not change without sustained therapy specifically targeted toward the abusive relationship patterns. These relationships cannot be changed from one side; it takes mutual honesty, openness and willingness from both parties to work through these issues. Group therapy is highly recommended for abusers, as it helps them to break through the denial that is generally a part of the abusive patterns. (People in denial generally recognize their own dysfunctional behavior in others more easily than in themselves.) This applies to the partners of abusers as well - group helps them to break through the denial by seeing the relationship patterns from a wider view.

If the abuser is unwilling to own their behavior and seek help the prudent course of action is to remove yourself totally from the situation. This is painful, but is generally safer and ultimately better for both parties than allowing the cycle of abuse to continue. Be prepared for the abuse to increase after you leave - stepping out of the cycle enrages the abuser, as it shatters their illusion of control. Learn how to protect and care for yourself. Detachment with love is difficult, but the best solution if your partner is unwilling to work though the issues.

These relationships cannot be changed from one side. Remember that by staying you are condoning and enabling the abuse - and helping your partner to stay sick. If your partner is unwilling to get help the only safe course of action is to totally remove yourself from the situation and seek help on your own.

2009 Clark, Philippines Hot Air Balloon Festival/Air Show to Play Host to 25 Countries

By: Clark Subic Marketing News

According to the Tourism and Promotions Office of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC), 2009 will see even more balloons and countries participating in the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival than in 2008. At this point, it looks as if 25 countries will be joining this event, which seems to be growing by leaps and bounds each year and becoming more like a major air show than a hot air balloon event.

In 2008, only 19 balloons were flown from 13 countries; with the increased publicity of this event worldwide and on the internet, and the growing popularity of the event with Filipinos, Clark could have significantly more balloons than ever in the air this year. The scheduled date is set for February 12 to 15 th of 2009. The organizers are in the beginning phases of planning for this Philippines mega event, we will post the schedule here when it is available.

For 2009, well over 100,000 spectators are expected to attend five days of fun in the skies, or as CDC refers to it: “the weekend of everything that flies.” This event is currently scheduled to be held in its usual location where the large hanger is visible from the main entrance road, designated as the Clark Civil Aviation Complex, right alongside the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.

The associated events, as last year, are sure to be additionally inspiring. CDC seems to want to grow this event to ever-increasing heights of excellence. You can be sure that the show will be bigger and better than ever for 2009, bringing greater levels of exposure to the Freeport in order to further promote business and leisure investment in the area.

The CDC is looking to grow the Clark region, not only internationally, but as a major Filipino destination of tourism and relaxation. For this event and all subsequent events in Clark, the area will become even more easily assessable from Manila. With the completion of the SCTEX this year, and the soon completion of the new SCTEX Clark Interchange in December, you will be able to exit directly into the Freeport from the highways, only a couple Kilometers from the entrance of the balloon festival. If you have attended the Balloon Fiesta in previous years or have been to the Clark Freeport, you know that the last few kilometers are the most frustrating as you exit NLEX to pass through the intense traffic in Dau and Angeles City to the Clark Main gate; sometimes taking as long as an additional 30 minutes. That will soon be a thing of the past and make the balloon festival and Clark in general, an even more pleasant destination.
This years balloon festival is lining-up to be the greatest ever, and it will be easier to attend then ever before. So, if you have never been to this mega event, or if you wait anxiously each year to see the myriad of balloons and other demonstration aircraft and exhibits, then make your advanced hotel reservation plans now as the Freeport is sure to become booked-out very quickly and in advance for this event.

A Celebration of Filipino Design Excellence
The prestigious Katha Award, a country recognition for design excellence returns at Manila F.A.M.E. this year. The Katha recognizes Manila F.A.M.E.’s exhibitors whose innovative designs manifests the country’s artistic soul and creative passion.

Trendspotting at Manila F.A.M.E. 2009

This year’s trend in home and fashion sees an evolution in the “green movement”. Going green turns a new leaf as natural, indigenous, and eco-friendly materials becomes opulent – thus, it is known as eco-luxury.

Eco-luxury is seen mostly in five-star hotels and resorts. Natural and organic inspired pieces have taken over exaggerated crystal chandeliers and bulky furniture. Likewise, many consumers would want to surround themselves with luxury but would want to feel like they are doing something good for the environment. Thus, going green is a trend that would stay for quite a long time.

In terms of colors, going green is no longer tied down to greens and earthy tones. The green movement will see bright yellows, tangy orange, calming blues, and regal violets.

“The Dark Side of Me"

“My real life started when I was ten years old.” A grade 4 student answered the question “Who Am I?” At that time he was hiding the status of his gender. A lot of people wanted to discover his gender. But this grade 4 student tried to hold his principles in life not to reveal his secret.

After he discovered himself, he wanted to push his study. He started dreaming and planning for his future. His first dream is to become a priest to cover up his sin. What is that sin? Obviously being a closet queen. But sometimes he likes to be a doctor because he wants to take care of his grandma. His life goes on until he met his first best friend. The guy is very sweet and gentle. This guy helped him discover what the beauty of life is. He is an optimistic man at the age of 11. His mind is very open for the homosexuals and understands why homosexuals undergo such kind of situation.

From that “words of wisdom” coming from this guy, he learned his lessons and gave hope to other people who have the same thinking like his best friend. After that conversation he thought if he can reveal his secret to his best friend. But there were two things to consider, first if his best friend will accept him and second if he can still get his trust. In the middle of the night he decided not to tell his secret. According to his conscience there is time to reveal all the secrets. One day he found out that he fell in love with his best friend. When he realized that, he really regretted what he feels for his best friend. There were times he ignored him in school, street and church. One day his best friend cornered him at other side of the door in school then the best friend asked why you are like that. What’s wrong with you? He replied, I am gay I want to give up our friendship now. I’m in love with you. So now that you know my secret can you still accept me as your best friend? The guy was really shocked. After that accident the guy ended up the friendship.

He was really depressed for what happened but life must go on. After the school year, he went to Manila to continue his studies. He enrolled in public school in front of his aunt's house. He was scared how to communicate with new classmates, friends and teachers. His dialect is different with theirs. Little by little, he was able to master the tagalog language. He started to forget his best friend in the province. They had no communications at all. In the middle of the semester he met another guy. The incident happened when they had a school trip in Tagaytay for educational tour. The guy is good looking. He decided to regret the feelings. Instead he concentrated to his studies. Time went really fast. He graduated in the primary but he was not prepared for high school life. He thought that secondary life is the worst to happen.

Because of this disposition to pursue his study he tried to take entrance exam in different private schools but sad to say he never passed any exams. His mother decided to enroll him in public school. After those failures in life for not passing the exams his mind focused on his studies in secondary level. He never forgets his dreams and goals in life. But that time he was thinking about his father. Why didn't he see him since birth. He knows the situation of his family. He always dreams that his family will be complete someday.

An Amazing Love Story

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home.... suddenly he asked the waiter. Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee.' Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; why you have this hobby? He replied: 'when I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I like playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there'. While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched. That's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to his salty coffee!

Then the story was just like every beautiful love story, the princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life... And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee e, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter which said: 'My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life lie. This was the only lie I said to you---the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead. I never thought that could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything... Now I'm dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don't like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again'. Her tears made the letter totally wet.Someday, someone asked her: what's the taste of salty coffee? It's sweet. She replied. Love is not to forget but to forgive, not to see but to understand, not to hear but to listen, not to let go but to HOLD ON !!!!

Don't ever leave the one you love for the one you like, because the one
you like will leave you for the one they love. Find a guy or girl, who calls you beautiful instead of hot. Who calls you back when you hang up on him. Who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the guy or girl who kisses your forehead. Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats. Who holds your hand in front of his friends.. Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he/she is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to his/her friends and says, '...that's her/his.'
